Michigan Recent Arrests is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody or has been released, provide or remove an official booking photo, post bond, or retrieve a government record. For a current answer or copy, contact the public body that holds that record.

Where Michigan Records Live

Michigan does not have one county sheriff's office or one statewide custodian for every booking. The arresting agency may hold its incident report, while the receiving county jail keeps its own booking and custody record. The county where the person was booked is often the right starting point. Use the County Directory to select that county's official site and find its records contact or public-records instructions.

  • County arrest or booking: Select the county in the directory, then contact its sheriff, jail, or arresting police agency. The proper custodian depends on the specific record.
  • State police record: Visit Michigan State Police FOIA for that agency's request channels. The MSP Arrests page covers its public news releases and where to direct questions.
  • Court event or outcome: Start with MiCOURT Case Search, then contact the court clerk for the official case record or help with a result.
  • State-prison custody: Use the official MDOC Offender Tracking Information System. County jail records and state-prison records are separate.
  • Federal custody: Use the Bureau of Prisons locator for people in BOP custody. It is not a county booking search and has no public booking-photo roster.
